Careerbreaker Destinations - New For 2007 - Borneo
The third largest island in the world, sitting at the centre of the Malay Archipelago and Indonesia. Borneo is surrounded by the South China Sea to the north and northwest, the Sulu Sea to the northeast, the Celebes Sea and the Makassar Strait to the east, and the Java Sea and Karimata Strait to the south.

Borneo is divided into three nation’s territories, Indonesian Provinces, Malaysian State and the independent Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam. A nature lover’s paradise, with a tropical climate, rich in diverse eco-systems, ethnic groups and landscapes, it has much to offer its visitors.

Extensively covered by tropical rainforests, Borneo is home to mountain ranges, huge caves, volcanic springs, jungles and beautiful beaches and coast with world class diving and snorkelling. Wildlife lovers will relish the opportunity to encounter the animal population which includes orangutans, sea turtles, elephants, rhinos, leopards and over 150 varieties of snake!

Careerbreaker is based in the Malaysian territory of Sarawak to the north west of the island. The majority of the population is Malay but there are significant numbers of Chinese, Indian and indigenous people, including the Kayan, Kenyah, Punan Bah and Penan. Life has changed little in some areas for hundreds of years, and it definitely worth talking time-out to visit the famous ‘longhouses’ which have altered little in appearance and design for centuries.

We are currently researching appropriate Community Development Projects including those focusing on the conservation of the rainforests.
