Work Placements - Teaching / TEFL - Kenya
Kenya is a country of exceptional beauty. Home to the legendary Maasai Tribe, it has incredible national parks and game reserves, unspoilt beaches and rolling savannahs.
The Careerbreaker Work Placement base is situated in the Great Rift Valley, part of the fault system running between Jordan and Mozambique. The soda lakes nearby are hosts to hundreds of thousands of flamingos, pelicans and other bird life. Meanwhile the only freshwater lake in the valley, Naivasha, boasts the biggest variety of birdlife worldwide, and many families of hippos.
Subjects offered are similar to those offered in our own curriculum, and the subjects you teach will be based around your own expertise and interest.
The area where you can be of most assistance is in regular curriculum education in secondary schools. However, there are also opportunities for part time placements in primary schools, if you focus on a particular project, e.g. conservation education, art/music workshops etc.
Depending on what time of year you come to teach, and how long you stay, you may be in Kenya when the children are on holiday. During this time you may undertake extra curricular activities with the children.
