Volunteer Sports Projects - Rugby
Although Rugby may never have the wider appeal of the ‘round ball’ there is no shortage on the passion displayed by those who do play. When played well there is rarely a finer sporting spectacle with both the player and onlooker feeling every tackle, pass, ruck and maul. Players will put everything on the line in order for their team to succeed - a drive, desire and passion that few sports can genuinely match.

Transfer this fervour and desire to the Islands of the South Pacific and you have a potent combination. With their proud warrior traditions and strong community ethic, it seems that rugby is a sport that belongs in Fiji and Tonga. If ever there was a place where culture was fully reflected in a sport – it in these two nations.

However this, Fiji and Tonga are lacking in their development of the game at many levels. Passion and drive are one thing; spare coaches and people able to give their time up is another. Careerbreaker’s aims with Rugby Volunteers are to assist, wherever possible, to bring this fantastic sport (both Union and League) to those who might otherwise miss out.
